Vision Options

2024 Plan Information

Vision Options

The Firm offers two vision plan options, both through Vision Service Plan (VSP):

  • VSP Option A
  • VSP Option B

Option B offers standard coverage, while Option A is a buy-up option with increased frequency and allowances for frames and contact lenses, as well as increased out-of-network coverage.

Benefits in Brief

Considerations when choosing vision coverage: How often do you prefer to change your eyeglass frames or contacts?

  • Prescription glasses frequency – Option A every year; Option B every 2 years.
  • Contact lenses allowance – Option A: $250; Option B: $150.

Options for Expatriate and International Employees

If you are a US benefits-eligible expatriate or US benefits-eligible international employee, you may elect vision coverage under the VSP Vision Plan. If you participate in VSP and visit a non-VSP provider while abroad, you will be reimbursed at the out-of-network level. To be reimbursed for eligible expenses, you must submit submit a claims form and itemized receipt (translated in English).

What’s Covered

VSP Options A and B offer a range of services and supplies from your provider of choice, including eye exams, eyeglass lenses, frames, contact lenses and laser surgery. Many services are 100% covered after a copay when you use an in-network provider. You may also receive discounts on services at participating retail chain stores such as Cohen’s Fashion Optical, Costco and others.

Services such as laser surgery, low vision supplemental testing, additional prescription and nonprescription glasses and sunglasses, and contact lens exams are covered to the extent described in the schedule of benefits in the Health Benefits and Insurance Summary Plan Description (SPD).

Finding a VSP Provider

Employees and their covered dependents enrolled in the vision plan may receive services and supplies from the vision care provider of their choice. However, they will pay more when they use an out-of-network provider. Find a list of in-network providers on the VSP website.

Notes About Lenses and Frames

The total copay for lenses generally applies to both eyeglass lenses and/or frames. You may select from a variety of optional lens types, as outlined in the Health Benefits and Insurance SPD.

Lenses are considered medically necessary for certain eye conditions that prohibit the use of glasses, including aphakia, anisometropia, high ametropia, nystagmus and keratoconus.

If you purchase frames from Costco, the frame allowance is $135 for VSP Option A and $80 for VSP Option B.

Paycheck Contributions

You pay the full cost of vision coverage. Your contributions are deducted from your pay on a before-tax basis.
