Tobacco Surcharge

The Medical Plan contribution rates include a discount for those who do not use tobacco products. To be eligible, you must either certify that you are tobacco-free or enroll in a tobacco-cessation program. The annual discount is $500 for you and an additional $500 for your covered spouse/domestic partner. Note that rates for Supplemental Life Insurance coverage are also discounted for non-tobacco users. If you certified as a participant in a tobacco cessation program during last year’s Annual Enrollment, next year’s Medical Plan contribution rates will not reflect the applicable discount. If you have successfully stopped your tobacco use or are still participating in a tobacco-cessation program, you must certify your tobacco status on the Benefit Center website when you enroll.
